Validating current grading scales for lingual frenulum length and tongue mobility in 1052 subjects. This grading scale allows clinicians to effectively communicate tongue mobility and associated nasal and oral function as they pertain to facial development. Further studies are needed to characterize the specific alterations to the lingual frenulum that render functional impairments.
Abstract: The aim of this study is to report three cases that needed myofunctional and orthodontic treatment and the good results achieved after the therapy. Orthodontic treatment alone, in presence of bad habits, is not enough to solve the orthodontic issues, so it needs to be combined with myofunctional treatment. Keywords Malocclusion, Myofunctional therapy, Oral habits.
Conclusion: Current literature demonstrates that myofunctional therapy decreases apnea-hypopnea index by approximately 50% in adults and 62% in children. Lowest oxygen saturations, snoring, and sleepiness outcomes improve in adults. Myofunctional therapy could serve as an adjunct to other obstructive sleep apnea treatments.
